Understanding the Costs
Many men underestimate the financial commitment of an international relationship. While the "cost of living" in the Philippines is low, the "cost of loving" can add up quickly if you aren't prepared.
1. Travel Expenses (The Biggest Chunk)
Unless you relocate immediately, you will be flying back and forth. A typical round-trip flight from the US or Europe costs between $1,000 and $1,500. Add hotels, domestic flights (to islands like Cebu or Davao), and daily spending money, and a 2-week trip can easily cost $3,000+.

Airlines often show higher prices based on your location. Use a VPN to change your virtual location to the Philippines or a poorer country to potentially find cheaper flight tickets.
2. Visa Fees (K-1 vs. CR-1)
The US immigration process is not cheap.
- K-1 FiancΓ© Visa: Costs around $2,025 in initial fees + medical exams. You also need to pay ~ $1,225 for Adjustment of Status (Green Card) after marriage.
- CR-1 Spousal Visa: Costs ~$1,500 upfront, but includes the Green Card upon arrival. It takes longer but is often cheaper in the long run.
3. The Wedding
This is where costs vary wildly. You can have a simple civil wedding for under $500, or a massive traditional church wedding with 300 guests for $10,000+. In Filipino culture, the groom is often expected to pay for the vast majority of the wedding expenses.
π‘ Providing Support?
This calculator does not include monthly financial support ("padala"). If you choose to support your girlfriend's family or pay for her internet/groceries, add an extra $100-$300/month to your personal budget.
