KKB stands for Kanya-Kanyang Bayad. It essentially means “Dutch Treat” or splitting the bill.
When is KKB acceptable?
- Casual Hangouts: With friends or colleagues.
- Established Relationships: Long-term couples often share expenses.
When is KKB NOT acceptable?
- First Dates: In traditional Filipino dating culture, the man is expected to pay (libre) for the first date.
- Inviting someone out: If you invited them, you pay.
- Mamanhikan: The suitor’s family always brings the food/pays.
Warning: Suggesting KKB on a first date with a traditional Filipina is a fast way to get basted!
