What is Kilig?

Kilig is that shudder of pleasure or excitement you get from romantic situations. It’s the “squeal” reaction when your crush texts you back, or when you watch a romantic movie scene.

In Filipino culture, kilig is openly celebrated. It’s not “childish” to feel it; it’s the drug of choice for the romantic Filipino soul.

Signs She Feels Kilig

When you do something sweet (like bringing her flowers unexpectedly or telling her “Mahal kita” for the first time):

• She might hit you playfully (light slap on the arm).
• She might cover her face and giggle.
• She might struggle to look you in the eye.

Chasing the Kilig

While kilig is naturally high in the beginning (Ligaw phase), maintaining it is key to a long-term relationship.

• Send “Good morning” texts (mandatory!).
• Leave sweet notes.
• Post about her on social media (public declarations of love cause massive kilig).
