What does Basted Mean?

Basted (pronounced bas-ted) is Filipino slang for getting rejected. It specifically refers to when a man is courting a woman (ligaw) and she formally turns him down.

Why Do Guys Get Basted?

There are many reasons, but common ones include:

• Insincerity: Not being serious enough or just “playing games.”
• Incompatibility: Simply not being the right match.
• Wrong Timing: The woman might not be ready for a relationship (studies, career provided as a reason).
• Disrespect: Not respecting her family or traditions.

Handling Rejection

Getting basted is painful but part of the game.

• Accept it gracefully: Do not get angry or insist. Respect her decision.
